Fishing: The Next Big Catch for Habbo Origins
Player retention may be the key issue for Habbo Origins. With the recent launch of "Daily Challenges" and the introduction of "Stamps" as a second currency rewarded for completing said challenges, the first steps toward achieving the fabled 'stickiness' for the game have been taken - and so far, it has proven to be quite successful.
And now, something new is bubbling under the surface; a potential new minigame that could play a huge part in securing player retention and expand Habbo Origins' reach even further: Fishing!

How would fishing work?
The concept of a potential fishing minigame was laid out in a feedback thread by user Inx in the Origins Discord server. Here's a broad summary of how the game would work:
Players would join a Public Room (TBD) and fish in its pond(s)/lake/sea.
Players interact with a fishing tile to begin fishing. At a random interval, the sprite will change to signal a bite; clicking 'use' will then catch the fish, prompting a whispered message with the details of the catch.
The fish would be stored, not in the players' hands, but in a separate inventory that is viewable when clicking a fishing NPC.
- The fishing NPC would have its own 'hub', featuring a shop where players can redeem their fish for various rewards like furni, fishing rod upgrades, badges, stickers and more (these rewards would be non-tradeable).
Several users have since cooperated on this original concept pitch. User Jeca created several mockups (shown below) of how the fishing NPC and his hub could look:

User Eugeen created these animations for: a fishing spot, a dobber cast into the water and a fish on the hook:

Macklebee himself has shown keen interest in the concept, weighing in on the discussion and contributing ideas. Just yesterday he revealed an early proof of concept of how splashing/casting would look:

The game is still in the very early concept stage of development and, if shown to be functional, is highly likely to be polled in the InfoBus before eventual implementation into the game.
We're curious to know: what are your thoughts on a potential fishing minigame? We know that some people may have differing thoughts on this subject, as it is an entirely new addition to Habbo and not a reworked idea from the old days. Let us know in the comments below how you feel about it!
