º BAM! The page violently shakes as the letters S-T-A-R-C-A-L-L-E-R are slammed onto the paper in bold, metallic text. A blinding flash of golden ink explodes across the screen, and as it clears, Starcaller materializes with a grin, ready to take over the typing. º
Welcome back to The Furni Files, the official pixel-archaeology column where we interrogate your fellow Habbos about the exact objects that got them hooked on hotel life. Today, we’re cracking open the vault for our next guest, Orbit, to find out which iconic piece of machinery completely altered their Habbo journey.
But first, let's look at the blueprint of Orbit's ultimate favourite: the Cherry Ice-Cream Maker (familiarly known to most as the Red ICM). Dropping all the way back in June 2005 alongside other V7 rares, this was one of the very first ice cream machines to ever grace the hotel lines. While UK users originally knew it as the "Cherry" machine (and this is what the Origins model uses) and received it as a rare competition reward, our friends over on Habbo USA got it straight from the catalogue.
Let’s hand it over to Orbit to see why this retro rare is his favourite...
"The Red Ice Cream Machine."
"Honestly, I would be so sad because the Red ICM in particular is the single most nostalgic furni item to me. Luckily, though, there are SO many other colours to choose from in the hotel! Green would definitely be a close second."
"Besides red just being my favourite colour anyway, the Red ICM was actually the first rare I ever saw in the Catalogue back in 2004/2005. I remember having immediate sticker shock when I saw that 25-coin price tag! But I quickly learned the whole concept of 'rares,' and it became just another layer that got me completely hooked on the game. I vividly remember having one extra HC sofa at the time and trading it for two Red ICMs. I was SO happy!"
"Having a functional, real-life soft serve machine right in my bedroom? Sign me up immediately!"
"It specifically reminds me of the early, early days of Habbo USA. I believe it was the very first V7 rare introduced to that hotel, so it really represents the absolute beginning of some truly classic rare eras."
"If it could talk, it would probably just complain about its workload. The sheer amount of ice cream consumed by Habbos on a daily basis is absolutely ASTOUNDING!"
