Dubby reviews it! December 2025
And here we are about to move into 2026! Happy New Year to everyone 😊
December 2025, for me, is a hugely important month for Habbo in general. There’s a lot of nostalgia wrapped up in it; much like Habboween, these two months are tentpole events for the community and, honestly, the ball simply cannot be dropped. So, let’s get into it!
Â
Community Poll

I’ll be honest: I don’t care much for exchange. I like credit furniture, but I can appreciate that people do see the value in furniture credits. The Origins team released an article which, within the community, was well received, as it clearly set out how they intend to launch exchange should it pass. There were a few points in the article that many felt should have been separate poll questions, and that including them muddied the waters. Those points were removed from this poll and will appear in another upcoming one, which is great, as it shows the team are genuinely listening to the community.
This also opens up a lot of game-prize options, and we may see credits being given out instead of rares. And, in fairness… I’m not against this, because it is pricey for game hosts to keep giving away their rares. This change could save them a bit of money!
Catalogue Furniture

This month we had our nostalgic Christmas furniture which, of course, is essential. The Arctic line arrived in the catalogue and LET ME TELL YOU,  I never had fond memories of the Arctic range, but I’ll happily admit I was wrong. This furniture line is GREAT and, in fact, one of the best Habbo has ever offered in my honest opinion. Chef’s kiss.
Another furniture line was released, created by Goob, an iced version of the Mode line. I have to say, I personally do not like Mode in general; it’s a very dated-looking line and I simply don’t vibe with it. That said, Goob re-imagined it into something I genuinely think is far superior to the standard set. Great job, Goob 😊

We also received new Christmas furniture additions, Â plants with lights and snow, with different states. They fit perfectly with the familiar design style we know and love, and are on par with what Origins released for Habboween in 2024. Superb work; they really knocked it out of the park with the catalogue lines.
Â
Penguins
Â

The Marmite of Habbo. You either love them or you hate them. Personally, I think they’re cute, and if you don’t like them, just don’t collect them or pop them into a storage room. Penguins were released via NPC bots, giving players a reason to log into Origins daily to collect theirs. Yes, a few penguins weren’t released due to sickness, but we ask for transparency and the team gave us transparency,  so that’s something we can appreciate, and it’s hardly the end of the world. The penguins eventually arrived on Guskin NPC 24/12/25. I have touched more about this in the communication section of the review.Â
Â
Rares
The rares released this month were exactly what you’d expect. I don’t have much more to add, they hit the mark, were consistent, and suited the theme nicely.

Week 1 – White Pillow

Week 2 – White Marque & Ice Cream Machine
I won’t lie, week 2 initially I thought was going to be a womp womp and that’s purely because I loathe Marques but ALL was saved when a second rare dropped (randomly) and saved the week which was the peppermint ice cream machine.

Week 3 – Turquoise Fan

Week 4 – Vincents Santa’s Jinglebell Judgement
Â
Funky Friday
Week 1 didn’t happen due to sickness again, but honestly, it’s not the end of the world considering Funky Friday items are usually a tweaked version of a norm furni item. That said, we were given transparency about the situation and informed that the item would be released earlier in the following week.
Week 1 – No Funky Friday

Week 2 – Gingerbread teleporters (I AM OBSESSED)

Week 3 – Christmas socks and Reindeer duck
Â
Noco Visit
Â

Genuinely, I don’t care for Noco at all. For me, he’s just not appealing, but I can appreciate the buzz he brings to the hotel as people try to obtain his items. He has delivered exactly what was promised, and I do feel he’s beneficial to the trading community, which we all know is important.
What I find wild is that Noco doesn’t appear to be on a timer to arrive and disappear automatically. From what it seems, Macklebee actually has to manually remove him from all three hotels. I don’t personally understand the technical complexities behind this, but when staff resources were unavailable, Noco ended up running around 8 days in total and selling even more of his little treats. Which I can understand, will bother people who specifically log in to trade and hope these items hold value.
Public rooms

Well, this area… we really didn’t get anything. Which is sad, because origins banks on nostalgia and one of the nostalgic themed rooms didn’t appear this year. That said, this could be really down to time constraints given absence and being low priority but if I didn’t at least mention that it was a ‘want’ for the community, then this would not be an authentic review and this side of the month fell flat.
Creator Circle
We now know that staff are no longer running staff games (which, in all honesty, is great for the community and not everyone is available during office hours). Dovak and Spidercides really packed a lot into the month to keep us engaged, and even the substantial credit prizes felt worthwhile. And that’s important, these things need to feel worth the effort, so I’m glad Habbo is delivering on that front for the players who come out on top.
Event Creators

Out with the old, in with the new. A long-standing criticism of Habbo Origins has been the lacklustre campaigns and events. The newly announced team features some of Origins’ top creators, who genuinely understand what players want. They’re tapped into what the community likes, and what it doesn’t,  so we’ll need to see how this unfolds, but it certainly sounds promising and absolutely the right move.
I only wish this had happened around the Steam launch; I strongly believe we could have retained users for a much longer period of time. I am truly excited for 2026 and how this rolls out and the reason being is each member in this team, absolutely care about Habbo Origins and that is the golden nugget here. This new programme can help Origins retain users by keeping players engaged throughout each month. Normally, we see new sign-ups who quickly fall away, but this should help maintain momentum and keep activity levels steady.
My ask for the event creators, is to consider in a month potentially what we once knew as ‘staff games’ to also happen within the weekend. The weekends need more love and I think given the opportunity and the fluidity of people’s schedules and input, this allows room for this to now happen.
Origins Competitions
The month began with what is perhaps the community’s favourite type of event: a pixel art competition. Let’s be honest, not everyone participates, but I think most players simply enjoy seeing what others come up with. Once the results were out, Stronghandle once again did an excellent job providing genuine critique on each submission within the top twenty. As always, it was well delivered, timely, and resulted in another user-created rare for the community.

I know some players ask for these competitions to be hotel-specific, but personally, I love the global format. If your pixel art is the best, then it’s the best, simple as that. A MASSIVE congratulations to Vincent from .com taking the number one spot!!!
However, we were promised two competitions this month and that has not been followed through. Date of posting being the 29th December and it really feels a little bit late in the game for a competition relating to building in my opinion and for that, it certainly impacts the overall score of the review. Not significantly by any means but, don't overshoot a promise and not follow through especially when it comes to keeping people 'engaged' which is too valuable to pass up.Â
Guest Room Fishing

Yes. Absolutely yes. I’m genuinely ecstatic that we’re now able to do this, and the community clearly welcomed it too. My only criticism is that it only rotates in two direction and not four, which is a little frustrating when you are creating rooms but that is my only gripe. Aside from minor bugs, such as the fishing sign which reflects you actively fishing doesn’t disappear and the fish just stop being caught. Overall, big win.
Habbo on Steam

Hallelujah! The news page is finally receiving regular updates, Â and this is absolutely essential. Anyone browsing Steam wants to see a game that is consistently updated and visibly active. Without that, it simply looks like a dead-on-arrival game. This has finally been recognised, and it really shows how beneficial something as small as regular news posts can be.
In addition to this, my request for Habbo is to have someone dedicated to responding to messages on the Steam community board and providing actual support. There are still plenty of unanswered questions that the community themselves cannot resolve, so having someone monitor and engage with these boards would be extremely helpful.
Neopets return!

While I can appreciate, this is pretty marmite. You either love it or hate it, it’s content for players to enjoy it. If you don’t like it, don’t buy it. Personally, I find it cute! 😊 I wasn’t expecting the Neopets to drop until January so it’s pretty nice to get something else additional in the catalogue. Origins players are always wanting new content, and I have to say in terms of delivering that this month, origins has succeeded.
Communication
This area needs a significant amount of improvement, and it’s clear from both in-game conversations and discussions within the Habbo Origins server that many users feel communication is lacking. The release of fishing holes is a good example: a lot of players spent all their fish tokens buying as many holes as possible, only to discover the very next day that all penguins were available via Guskin. It’s easy to understand why that felt frustrating, if you’ve just spent all your resources and then realise you need more, you’re suddenly back to square one, grinding all over again.
Many players are completionists, and being unable to obtain every penguin is guaranteed to cause dissatisfaction. A better path forward for Origins would be greater transparency across the entire month. Clearly outlining what’s coming, when competitions will launch and end, when catalogue items will enter and leave, and when polls are scheduled (without even needing to reveal their content), would go a long way in managing expectations.
Having a clear, date-specific monthly roadmap would significantly reduce complaints and confusion. And honestly, if the team doesn’t have the capacity to manage this directly, this is where fansites should step in. Official Fansites have always been the backbone of Habbo, and it’s time to properly utilise them to Origins’ advantage. Out of the entire month, I would say that communication has been the biggest weakness in December but just because it’s weak this month, doesn’t mean it will be weak next month.
Infostands

We know there is a winter infostand, and we know there is a present where your Habbo can sit inside a gift box. Unfortunately, neither of these made it to Origins in December.

Honestly, this area could also use some love, but I do understand that one person is currently spinning 50 other plates at the same time.
Â
Fishopedia

The Fishopedia launched this month as part of the Arctic Dawn Fishing Expansion, and it’s a genuinely welcome addition to Habbo Origins. The concept is simple but effective: players are now able to gradually fill out an entire book by catching different fish, giving fishing a clear sense of progression and a long-term goal. Completionists, in particular, will absolutely love this.
Every player was given their own Fishopedia, accessible directly from the items section of their Backpack, making it easy to use and intuitive to understand. It also adds a subtle layer of competition, as players race to see who can complete it first, Â something that naturally drives engagement without feeling forced.
Overall, the Fishopedia is a smart piece of design. It doesn’t overcomplicate fishing, but it does give the skill more depth, purpose, and replay value. It’s another example of Origins adding meaningful systems that reward time and dedication, rather than relying purely on short-term content drops.
Christmas badge

Ok, I’m probably alone in this one. Macklebee tweeted that everyone who logged in through December to the New Year would receive the 2024 Christmas badge repurposed to 2025. Ok, that’s fine but then I also hope then that this badge is just given yearly. Personally, I liked having the 2024 badge for Origins first Christmas, this just feels a little bit naff to me. So, if we’re continuing in that direction, then just have that as the badge for every year but again, I haven’t seen any complaints regarding this, so I am probably alone with this one! At least we got a badge!
Conclusion
I am going to give December 2025 on Origins an 8.2. I know many people will not agree with me; however, in terms of content, they really knocked it out of the park, and had it not been for Macklebee’s absence, I can only imagine how much smoother the month would have gone. I am also not going to score down due to something that cannot be controlled. That said, there absolutely needs to be some form of contingency plan should anything similar happen again, where the community does not need to be aware of internal circumstances.
However, solid rares were released, multiple furniture lines launched, guest room fishing was introduced, penguins were added, and it ticked a lot of boxes for me.
It definitely feels like Origins is going through a period of change with the introduction of Event Creators, and let me be clear… this can only be good for the game. I have full faith in the team behind it and look forward to January.
That said, the month wasn’t without its flaws. Communication remains the biggest area for improvement, and the lack of new public rooms was a noticeable miss in a month that thrives on nostalgia. These issues didn’t ruin December, but they did prevent it from being exceptional.
Overall, December felt like a turning point rather than a finish line. If Habbo Origins can tighten its communication, better plan month-wide rollouts, and continue empowering creators, 2026 has the potential to be its strongest year yet. This month proved that Origins is moving in the right direction; now it’s about consistency, clarity, and building on the momentum already gained.
While many people complain about being bored, the content is there for Origins, the high volume of players are not. I can’t really comment on marketing, and I would be surprised if there is a budget for marketing given Azerion’s current position with the gaming division. However, Origins needs players to keep others entertained, and in a social game, that's really whats required. I understand the positioning right now however which is difficult to really do anything about it.Â
What I want in 2026
Gaming Furniture
An expansion of furniture designed specifically for games. While we’ve seen some experimentation with game-related assets, there needs to be a stronger push to help Origins players move away from relying solely on dice-based games.
Official Fansites
This sits right at the top of my wishlist for 2026. I’ve already outlined the rationale earlier in this review, but it’s worth repeating: Official Fansites have always been the backbone of Habbo. What should this look like? Ask the players and the get the answer to this question.Â
Skills
I love Gardening and Fishing, but it would be great to see a skill that can be used within guest rooms and encourages cooperation with friends. A shared, collaborative skill would add a new social dynamic to the game.
Consistent Public Room Updates
Public rooms often adopt monthly themes and the Theatredome being a great example but this isn’t done consistently. LiveOps may not see this as a priority, but Origins players absolutely do. Regular, themed updates to public rooms would go a long way in keeping the hotel feeling fresh and alive.
Steam
An active member of Sulake, responding in the discussion boards to people who require support.
Steam Players
To finally be able to buy the 12 month bundle for Habbo Club.Â
The question I have for readers, is what do you want to see in 2026?Â
